How Denman Prospect became a playground for this young family

In the search for a place to live, finding somewhere that ticks all the boxes for every member of the family, especially the littlest ones, can feel like a tall order.

It was back in late 2022 when Georgie and her partner Augustine were searching for the perfect place to call home for their young family in Canberra. And it wasn’t just about finding somewhere that met their must-have list—they also had young son Omari to keep in mind.

“We were really looking for somewhere new with fresh energy. We wanted somewhere with beautiful open green spaces where we would still feel close to nature and could go walking. We are also looking for a place with a good park for our son to play at,” says Georgie.

After searching throughout the capital, they found their happy place in Denman Prospect, and they secured a rental property and moved into the suburb in November 2022.

“We were very drawn to Denman Prospect. The place we moved into was brand new and a clean slate to build something lovely,” says Georgie.

Amongst the business of life with a young family, Georgie and Augustine craved a place that offered ease of living, and they found Denman Prospect delivered in spades.

“There is also an amazing nature reserve right in front of our place, two wonderful parks and both within walking distance. The shops also had everything we needed; IGA, coffee shop, gym, chemist, doctors, etc. We didn’t need to leave the suburb for anything!” she says.

Since moving in, the family has loved watching Denman Prospect grow and blossom.

“I think one of the best things about the suburb is that it’s continuously evolving. There are new trails, another fabulous park being built and more people moving to the area,” says Georgie.

“We also love that there are regular community events and pop-up food vans. There is a local Facebook page for the area where people organise games and movie nights.”

And as for Omari? He loves exploring the neighbourhood on his bike, especially the vast expanse of Ridgeline Park with its endless opportunities for adventurous rides.

“It’s also a wonderfully diverse suburb. We took our son trick-or-treating last year and knocking on doors. It was lovely to meet our neighbours and there were lots of people out walking as well,” says Georgie.

While they set out to find a place to call home, for Georgie’s young family, Denman Prospect has become much more than just somewhere to live; it’s a community that embraces them and offers something special for every member of the family.

And as for when it comes time to move again, Georgie and her family know they won’t need to look too far at all.

“We really love living in Denman Prospect and hope to buy here in the near future,” she says.
