Protoplasm is a 10-metre kinetic sculpture which includes four large pods formed on a curved base pole that is wind powered. The bright yellow pods make this a striking piece at the main entry to Denman Prospect.

The artist, Phil Price, is from New Zealand and since 2000 has focused on wind activated kinetic sculptures. He is regarded as the foremost kinetic sculptor of his generation, with his work being widely acknowledged.
