Sphere by artist Jorg Plickat represents the five trading continents of the world. The sculpture is a deconstruction of a circle using balanced arcs to create a spherical space.
The artist, Jorg Plickat, was born in Hamburg, Germany. He has a Diploma in Sculpture and more than 60 works installed in public areas and churches around the world. In 2015 he was the winner of Sydney’s Sculpture by the Sea with his piece, 'Divided Planet'. ‘Sphere’ was the first installation of public art in Denman Prospect and was unveiled by the artist and Terry Snow in October 2016.
